Haliburton Highlands,

Magnum Ice Racing
Dates: January 1, 2009 to March 30, 2009
Location: Minden Fair Grounds
Ice racing starts at the end
of January and going to the end of February (weather permitting) at the
fair gorunds in Minden, located on Bobcaygeon Rd, north of the bridge,
on the east side. Lots of spectator area. Come watch this battle of the
cars on a custom built ice track. These races are Not Demolition Derby,
but fully santioned(CASC Ontario) races for specially prepared cars.

Snowmobile Poker Run
Date: February 21, 2009
This
popular fundraising event is now in its 20th year. Participants will
gather token cards along the trail, which can be traded for a Poker
hand upon return to the entrance point at Haliburton Forest. The
winning hand will ride away with a brand new 2009 model snowmobile.
Many other prizes are awarded. All proceeds are collected for the
Haliburton Volunteer Fire Department. Fee: $ 50 per participant For

In Search of the Elusive Wolf
Date: February 28, 2009
Pre-registration is required This is a one-day
snowshoe experience into Wolf Country guided by a Wild Life Biologist.
The
day will be spent exploring the hills and valleys on snowshoes looking
for evidence of the wolf in our forests. Your host and guide for the
day is Haliburton Forest’s resident wildlife biologist, who possesses a
tremendous amount of knowledge about the flora and fauna of the area
and who is presently doing research on wolf predation on deer.
Snowshoes will be provided for participants who will not bring their
own.
Fee: $45.00/adult, $35.00/youth *Youth must be able to spend an active
