Haliburton Highlands, Ontario, Canada snowmobiling wonderland, Haliburton Highlands is located in Haliburton Highlands. For an Ontario snowmobiling experience second to none in Central Ontario, come to Haliburton Forest. The Base Camp, located on Kennisis Lake, with ample free parking, gasoline, snowmobile rentals, food, are available on site. Shelter cabins are on the snowmobile trail system which are equipped with stoves and firewood to help you warm up or enjoy a snack. There are more than  300 km of groomed snowmobile trails and no highway crossings! Haliburton Forest is a privately-owned snowmobile paradise with 60,000 acres of  wilderness reserve with more than 50 lakes.

Haliburton Forest, Ontario, Canada is the premier snowmobile destination in Canada. Winter adventure with unparalleled scenery only 3 hours North-East of Toronto, with more than 400 kilometers of groomed snowmobile trails. Haliburton Forest Preserve is a snowmobile paradise with 65 000 acres of wilderness, 55 lakes and rivers. Special events including poker runs and Snow-a-Rama.

Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Preserve is a wilderness property with about 350 kilometres of biking, hiking, skiing and snowmobile trails, and canoe routes. Seasonal camping is available on 17 of the property's 50 lakes.

Magnum Ice Racing

Dates: January 1, 2009 to March 30, 2009

Location: Minden Fair Grounds

Ice racing starts at the end of January and going to the end of February (weather permitting) at the fair gorunds in Minden, located on Bobcaygeon Rd, north of the bridge, on the east side. Lots of spectator area. Come watch this battle of the cars on a custom built ice track. These races are Not Demolition Derby, but fully santioned(CASC Ontario) races for specially prepared cars.

Walk into winter ….. on snowshoes. Explore the winter wilds of the Haliburton Highlands with a winter travel expert and wildlife biologist. Step back into Canada history with an 18th century fur trader. Snowmobile Poker Run

Date: February 21, 2009

This popular fundraising event is now in its 20th year. Participants will gather token cards along the trail, which can be traded for a Poker hand upon return to the entrance point at Haliburton Forest. The winning hand will ride away with a brand new 2009 model snowmobile. Many other prizes are awarded. All proceeds are collected for the Haliburton Volunteer Fire Department. In Search of the Elusive Wolf

Date: February 28, 2009

Pre-registration is required This is a one-day snowshoe experience into Wolf Country guided by a Wild Life Biologist.

The day will be spent exploring the hills and valleys on snowshoes looking for evidence of the wolf in our forests. Your host and guide for the day is Haliburton Forest’s resident wildlife biologist, who possesses a tremendous amount of knowledge about the flora and fauna of the area and who is presently doing research on wolf predation on deer. Snowshoes will be provided for participants who will not bring their own.

Fee: $45.00/adult, $35.00/youth *Youth must be able to spend an active day outside
