Mother's Day in Canada...
Mother's Day here in Canada is a the most
popular festival after Christmas and
Valentines Day. Celebrated on
the second Sunday in the month of May just as in USA. Mothers are paid
tribute by their children on the day to thank them for their love and
support. Cards and flowers are typical tributes given to mothers here
in Canada. Children often take their Mothers out for an evening meal at
a nice local restaurant.
As Mother's Day is a festival with
strong emotional value, it has been commercialized to a large extent
with compelling advertising strategies in the technologically advanced
country of Canada. The sale of Mother's Day cards breaks all
records. It's the day of the year that most children can thank
their mothers with a day off from the kitchen.
Caring children
make it a point to greet Mothers Day to their own moms, grand mothers
and to women who are like their Mothers. Those staying away from their
mothers visit them and make them feel special. No wonder telephone
traffic is highest on the
occasion of Mothers Day by those who are unable to pay a personal visit
to their Moms.
Different countries celebrate Mother's Day
on different days of the year. Some scholers believe that this day
emerged from a custom of Mother
worship in ancient Greece celebrated by a festival. This festival was
held around the Vernal Equinox
around Asia Minor and eventually in Rome itself from the Ides of March
(15 March) to 18 March. In some countries, Mother's Day began not as a
celebration for individual mothers but rather for Christians.
Chalet
In-The-Woods Bed and Breakfast is an ideal place to treat
your Mother by giving her a Gift Certicate which may be redeemed when
it is convenient.
